Christmas On Turtle Pond...

The decorating is all done!  It took me longer than usual to get all the decorations up this year, but now that the last bit of glitter has been vacuumed up, I finally have some pictures to share.

Murphy warms up by the fireplace in the living room.

I love sparkly ornaments!
The more glitter the better!

The Santa sat on my grandparent's fireplace since before I was born.

Thank you Mom for letting me have Santa, it means a lot to me!

Look who I found under the tree.  He just needs a bow.  :o)
This year, I put "The Twelve Days of Christmas" ornaments on the tree in the den.  They are so pretty!
Some of my favorite nutcrackers.  The one in the middle was my souvenir from Germany, "The Nightwatchman".
Christmas decor in the den.
I can't believe Christmas will be here in 5 days.  I feel like it should still be three weeks away.  I guess I'll have to leave the decorations up longer this year so that I feel like I have time to enjoy them.
Merry Christmas!!

Critters around the house

The other night Richard came running in the house telling me I HAD to come outside - "And bring the camera!"  I'm thinking "It's cold, but okay, it must be something good"  He tells me he saw some raccoons run up the tree in the front yard.  So, we go out there, flashlight in hand, and he searches for 5 minutes before we finally find this.

It was the funniest sight!  They were "playing dead"  Neither one of them moved the entire time we were out there - even the one that is hanging upside down!

Then at lunch yesterday, I was outside with Murphy when I heard something barking at me - and it wasn't Murphy.  I look up to see this.
You think he's out to get me??
Don't worry, Mr. Squirrel, I'm not after your nuts.  :o)

Murphy didn't even notice him.
He was too busy rolling around in the grass so that he can bring it inside for me to sweep off the floor.
Thanks Murphy.

Bedroom Christmas Mantle

Yes, the first part of the house I decorated this year was the mantle in our bedroom!  It's such a cozy corner, I couldn't resist.

It's really pretty with all the lights low at night.

I put in a few little animal ornaments - like in our backyard - raccoons, birds, etc.

What do you think??

On Turtle Pond....

Why "On Turtle Pond"?  Well, it's really as simple as our house overlooks a small pond that is home to lots of turtles.  I know, I'm so creative.  What will you find to read here?  Anything about home projects, to critters we see in our backyard, to stories of vacations we take.  Basically, anything I would call my Mom up and say "Guess what we did/witnessed/experienced today!".  Most likely, Mom will be the only one reading this, so HI MOM!  :o)
